Vavasour Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2005
Otago Daily Times April 19, 2006 - Charmian Smith
A stylish wine, with tropical fruit bursting on to the palate and finishing with an explosion of mineral on the aftertaste.
Vavasour Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2005
Truewines Keith Stewart 20th April, 2006
Look: Light straw/gold.
Smell: Fragrant/aromatic, lifted nose is filled with herbs and a fine, mineral tinged fruit.
Taste: Impact is filled with fine fruit, intense through the mid palate, clean and always fresh. Finish is firm, citrus trimmed and reasonably lengthy, with excellent cut that leaves a crisp footnote. Nicely flavoured, very stylish.

This is classy stuff, with nettley, minerally aromas and flavours typical of the Awatere Valley. Fresh, dry and tight, it's a very refined wine, rich and finely structured, with a lasting finish.

Vavasour Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2005
Sunday Star Times February 26, 2006
If you prefer your sauvignon blanc in the classic Marlborough style, this example from the Awatere Valley is almost retro in its purity. Many wineries in the bigger Wairau Valley have softened their style over the years, but Vavasour Sauvignon Blanc remains a textbook expression of zingy, intense Marlborough herbaceousness, with a pungent aroma, piercing flavours and vibrant acidity.
The Independent - October 2005
Jane Skilton MW
"... I find the wines with the strongest appeal are those either originating from, or having a good percentage of grapes grown in the Awatere Valley. The wines sem to have an elegance and a purity of fruit making them distinctive and attractive. Awatere producers have produced excellent 2005 wines. All showed concentration and depth of flavour that cannot be found in
wines from high-yielding vineyards."

'Savvy Summer' - Timothy Giles
"2005's consistency is in its (Sauvignon Blanc) quality. The flavours offer a fascinating variety depending on which of Marlborough's sub-regions is the source. Vavasour Wines show the almost explosive Awatere herbaceousness..."
Redwood Pass Sauvignon Blanc 2005

September 2005 - Wine of the Week
A new label from Vavasour, is a lovely, lively wine oozing intense, vibrant cantaloup melon and ripe gooseberries, with a long, zesty aftertaste. A typically delicious, enlivening Marlborough sauvignon at a good price.
