Vavasour Awatere Valley Rosé 2007
Bob Campbell, BobsWineReviews.com, December 2007
'Pretty pink. Dry and delicate with subtle spice and strawberry/cherry flavours. A serious Rosé that needs food to bring out its best". 87/100

Made from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes, it's such a pretty clear, deep ruby pink and wins points on colour alone. It smells inviting with its lightly floral, strawberry and cream aromas with a hint of a savoury edge and after the aromatic impact, there is pleasing flavour, body and texture too. There's a touch of sweetness to the cherry fruit with a squeeze of tangelo adding freshness to the finish. Perfect straight from the fridge and my top wine of the 'chilled to the bones' tasting, but just a little sweet when it starts to warm up.

Vavasour Rose 2007 has bright pink colour and good clarity. There is an appealing nose of strawberry and the palate has a hint of sweetness that takes it to the off-dry spectrum. There is a creamy, strawberry flavour and it finishes clean on the palate. At 13% the total alcohol is higher than needed in a summer wine.
