The 2005 season produced naturally small yields resulting in wines with excellent concentration and flavour.
This Vavasour Riesling was hand harvested from the Vavasour vineyard in the Awatere Valley during the cool of early morning. The grapes were then whole bunch pressed to retain delicacy and elegance. Fermentation was conducted with carefully selected yeast to add an extra dimension to the array of fruit flavours present in the wine.
Vavasour Riesling 2005 is a pale straw colour. The nose shows lifted floral/lime notes with a hint of spice. The palate is finely structured, and exhibits lime and mineral characters with rich stone fruit flavours on the finish. The style is dry, and ideal to partner food.
Although this Riesling is drinking well now, it will reward with careful cellaring for up to 5 years.
