The 2004 season provided good spring and summer weather, with enough rain for healthy shoot growth, and enough sunshine for good fruit set. The late summer and early autumn weather was warm and dry, and ideal for ripening the grapes.
This Vavasour Riesling was harvested from the Vavasour vineyard in the Awatere Valley during the cool early morning. The grapes were then processed quickly at the Vavasour winery. Fermentation was conducted with carefully selected yeast to add an extra dimension to the array of fruit flavours present in the wine.
Vavasour Riesling 2004 is a pale straw colour. The nose shows lifted lime/citrus notes, and the palate is finely structured, and exhibits lime and mineral characters with rich stone fruit flavours on the finish. The style is dry, and ideal to partner food.
Although this Riesling is drinking well now, it will reward with careful cellaring for up to 5 years.
The 2004 Vavasour Riesling is sealed with screw cap to ensure optimum quality.
