Vavasour Awatere Valley Riesling 2003
Gourmet Traveller Magazine, Feb/Mar 2007
93 Points
Anyone who thinks screwcaps are a barrier to good bottle development should taste this wine. Its pure citrus and mineral flavours are beginning to reflect an appealing honeycomb bottle development. An off-dry style with mouth-watering acidity.
Vavasour Awatere Valley Riesling 2003
Truwines Keith Stewart, 7th Feb 2004
Look: Light straw.
Smell: Fragrant, firm, floral bouquet shot with minerals and a trace of ripe citrus.
Taste: Very fine, deep, harmonious, fruit filled impact has tightness and a fresh character. The mid palate has more fruit intensity pushing in, but overall the character of the wine is delicate, beautifully balanced and finely detailed. The finish epitomises this, its length, finesse and sustained flavours being especially impressive. 7/10
