Dashwood Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2006
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit Issue 2, August 2007
90 Points
The nose is intense and fragrant with ripe stone fruit and herbaceous flavours with a touch of asparagus indicating the wine is starting to develop tertiary flavours. The palate is still fresh, however, with vibrant, fruity mouth feel and succulent acidity that make this a delicious wine to drink now. At its best: now to mid 2008.

This second-label white from well-known Marlborough producer Vavasour is firmly tart and full of succulent, lively passion fruit character, with surprising complexity given its reasonable price.

Focuses and ripe, with outstanding intensity to lime juice, guava, grapefruit and stonefruit flavours, wrapped with pointed minerality and lingering sweet pea notes. Drink now.

Michael Cooper, Essentially Food Magazine - April/May 2007
From the highly rated Vavasour winery, this modestly priced wine punches well above its weight in tastings. Vibrant and zingy, with strong gooseberry/ lime flavours and a crisp minerally thread running through, it's a classic regional style, best enjoyed young.

A lovely soft and very fruity wine with oodles of passionfruit flavours. Charming sauvignon blanc with great texture and surprising length of flavour. Classic Marlborough style at a great price.

Bargain-priced blend of Awatere Valley (57 per cent) and Wairau Valley fruit, produced by Vavasour. Weighty and concentrated, with crisp, tropical fruit flavours, finely balanced for easy drinking. 4 Stars.

Lightly fragrant nose. Pleasing melon flavours on the palate with a hint of residual sweetness and moderate concentration... overall a tasty little wine.

Look: Pale straw.
Smell: Crisply snappy nose is bright and breezy.
Taste: Succulent, lively impact is bursting with fruit flavour and freshness. Mid palate is deep in fruit, succulent, pure and tingling with life. Finish oozes fruit sweetness and flavour clarity with a flicker of herbs.

Ivan Donaldson, The Press October -5th October, 2006
...A damned decent Marlborough savvie, with plenty of passionfruit, gooseberry and crushed herbs. It is zesty, crisp and dry, with a touch of firmness in the finish. You would be hard to please if you did not enjoy the contents of this bottle.

...Has all the in-your-face pungency, ripe tropical fruit, hints of mineral and herbs, and vibrant zesty finish you expect from good Marlborough sauvignon. Excellent value.

Sweaty, musky, apocrine aromas and tight, musky, tropical fruit, gooseberry and lime flavours that build up to a rich, juicy finish. The sweaty character is always there, but does not overpower while the texture is chalky but garnering an oiliness. Lots of Marlborough greens on the tasty finish. 13.5% alc. $15.90.
