The 2007 was an interesting vintage, with early spring frosts and cool, wet conditions during flowering naturally restricting the vines crop levels. Luckily from this inauspicious start the weather really warmed up and glorious late summer and autumn temperatures allowed the Sauvignon Blanc to ripen fully. Flavour development was further aided by the cool nights during the critical period leading up to harvest.
The 2007 Vavasour Rose comes from a fantastic small vineyard, carefully owned and nurtured by the McBride family. The 2007 Vavasour Rose was harvested in the cool of the early morning. The grapes were crushed, and the juice remained in contact with the skins for 8 hours, giving the resulting wine its radiant pink colour. The nose is full of lifted strawberries and berry fruits, with the palate showing strawberries and cream flavours with a long soft finish.
Enjoy the 2007 Vavasour Rose lightly chilled at summer barbeques, or as an aperitif.
